  1. I didn't even know it was an option. I thought ALL fireplaces had them. (Our rep never gave us the upgrades sheet. I suggest you ask yours for it!)

It blows the heat out of the fireplace and into the room.

  2. First...you should get a copy of the full set of standard options available for your model...as part of signing our contract, we had to also sign a copy of the standard options...our sales rep said they do that to make sure that everyone is fully aware of all the potential options...hmmm

As for the fireplace blower...It is a $350 option and will include a remote control. Instead of the heat just radiating out into the room, the blower draws heat from the fireplace and helps disperse it out into the room...you will find that this will spread the heat a further distance from the fireplace and will help take the chill off a room faster. For us, the fireplaces are manufactured by Majestic (www.majesticproducts.com), and the model number is CDVR42.

  6. @Robert - It's totally your call. I know we have one on our current fireplace and we can tell when we forget to turn the blower on and our current fireplace is ventless...the gas fire logs are not screened off by glass like the vented ones that Ryan Homes offers. The ventless already give off more heat, but we definitely notice when we forget to turn the blower on...plus with the remote I think you may be able to set a temperature and have it regulate the flame for you...not sure...can someone who has moved in already and has the blower with remote confirm that.

  7. Yes, we currently have wood burning fire place and it does not heat anything up. You have to stand directly in front of it in order to feel any heat.

Our PM has a savoy and he said that the blower heats up his whole floor and the other fire place is more for decoration. Needless to say we got the blower. We didn't get the blower originally because we thought it was just for the remote. lol, Ignorance is bliss and knowledge is power.:)

  8. Look at this way...for every $1000 you add $7 in payment. So you are just talking what? $2 and some change to your payment should you choose to get it? Your call!

  11. Hey guys - we are getting the blower as well, but I'm really wondering if it would be a ton of money to run this a lot? Does anybody have any idea? THANKS!! :)

  12. In our existing house we have found that when we run the blower it heats up the entire first floor which will keep your heat from kicking on, so not only does it provide good ambiance but it can potentially act as a good substitute heat source. Without the blower you only get the little bit of radiant heat thru the fireplace glass. I would also think it is less expensive to run the blower for the fireplace instead of the blower for your furnace.

  13. Hey everyone - sorry for the late comments - but I had trouble logging on - My fiancee and I are Maryland residents about to move over the Pa. line into Shrewsbury into a Milan at a Ryan homes community (so excited) - I currently have a fireplace blower in my existing home and it is great. As a matter of fact I had it included at a charge of $350 in the new house - it also comes withy a remote control as part of that price. It begins heating up the room within about 10 minutes of the fireplace being on and klet me tell you - you notice the difference. It also means that I don't keep the heat on that high - and that is saying something for me - I am always cold - even in the a/c in summer :) I love it. If you want to keep warm - get it - it's worth it, but if you want the fireplace just to look pretty - don't spend the extra money. The remote is kind of nice too - I can turn the fireplace on from anywhere in the room.
