  5. Hey robert! I too AGONIZED over the countertops and cabinets. Not sure if you saw my post on this or not, but you can save a heck of a lot of money by upgrading to granite later on, and you'll have more choices. RH doesn't give you too many to choose from, but our local granite guy had so many different ones, and it would save at least a grand or more.

We orginally picked the maple cabinets, but had a lot of trouble figuring out which wood floor would look good with them, and what counter. So we abandoned maple and got cherry, with laminate countertops (upgrade later. maybe).

So, I vote for cherry! And i like the santa cecilia countertops with it too.

  6. Thanks ranter our house comes with free granite upgrade so it doesn't cost us a penny or we would have done same as you . But it does limit us as far as choices but hey saving 4-5 thousand I'm not complaining just so hard to make up or mind !

  7. Hey Robert!! =) I too am partial to this combo (as it was our original choice). However your first choice is nice too.

I have picture in my blog of our model home here in the community. I think I posted it in June, but may be July. They had dark cherry and one of the black granites, if you're interested. It looked really nice.

I think either choice is a winner a really. It just depends on how light or dark you want your kitchen. The darker granite with the dark cabinets does tend to make everything appear a little darker. But they do compliment each other well.

While the lighter granite with the dark cabinets also compliment each other well, but lighten up the look of the kitchen. It just comes down you preference I think.

No matter what, I don't think you can go wrong!
